We spend our lives getting things done.

Wake up, get out of bed, brush your teeth — your days form a string of thousands of little actions, one after another.

What happens in the space between those actions? Your attention during those moments can have an enormous effect on your overall happiness. You can be rushed and worried about being late. Or sad, feeling like you're walking through jello. Or excited and eager.

Noticing your state of mind in between activities gives you some ability to direct your attention. By being mindful, you can cultivate calm and gratitude. This, in turn, will affect the quality of your actions.
